Newcastle United suffered one of their worst defeats in recent memory as they lost 5-0 away at Leicester City this afternoon.

The Magpies were uninspiring in their 0-0 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, and it didn’t get any better in today’s drab display.

Ricardo Pereira put Leicester in front with a fine run and finish, before Isaac Hayden was sent off for Newcastle for a rash challenge on Dennis Praet.

Jamie Vardy made it 2-0, Paul Dummett scored an unfortunate own goal, Vardy headed home the fourth and Wilfred Ndidi found the net for the fifth.

Newcastle were sent back to Tyneside with no points but plenty of humiliation, and fans have been slating boss Steve Bruce after the performance.

A number of players were slammed on Twitter too, including striker Yoshinori Muto, who was handed a rare start just off Joelinton in the Newcastle attack.

The Japanese international, signed by Rafael Benitez for £9million in 2018 (Daily Mail), hasn’t really impressed at Newcastle yet, and missed a golden chance to score early on.

Fans have been taking to Twitter to hammer the striker, claiming he was ‘anonymous’ and offered absolutely nothing, adding that he’s Championship at best and ‘genuinely useless’ with fans even hoping Dwight Gayle returns soon.
