Serbia were defeated by Brazil on Wednesday to end their World Cup hopes, and Aleksandar Mitrovic will now return to Newcastle United.

Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic will return to St. James’ Park after Serbia were beaten 2-0 by Brazil in their final group game at the World Cup.
The Orlovi finished third in Group E, with Switzerland advancing to the last 16 as runners-up, and the players will now return to their respective clubs.
Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic will head back to Newcastle, where speculation about his future is sure to continue. The 23-year-old has been linked with a switch away from the Magpies this summer, with Fulham expected to make a permanent move for him.
Every Love Island Contestant if they were an England player – World Cup!
Chronicle Live reports that he wants out of St. James’ and Craven Cottage is the only destination on his mind, after a successful loan spell last season in which he scored 12 goals in just 14 Championship starts.
Following Serbia’s World Cup exit, Newcastle put out a tweet to say that ‘the World Cup was over for Mitro’ with an accompanying match report.
This, of course, prompted fans to voice their opinion about whether or not the club should now be keeping Mitrovic ahead of the 2018/19 season, and it is safe to say they are pretty split on the matter.

There are some Newcastle supporters who believe Mitrovic is best off being sold after a relatively sub-par showing in Russia, but some believe the former Anderlecht man still has more to offer:
