Newcastle United don’t appear to be any closer to signing Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle United are still hoping to sign Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron – but they need to pay up quickly if they are to land him.
The Magpies have been linked with Almiron for weeks and even months at this point, having been impressed with his displays in Major League Soccer.
The Paraguayan ace hit 13 goals and 13 assists as he helped Atlanta win the MLS Cup, with his performances attracting major interest.
Almiron is a creative playmaker yet also very fast, making him potentially ideal for a counter-attacking team – and having him work off Salomon Rondon could revolutionise this Newcastle team.
It’s no great secret that Newcastle want Almiron, but the Daily Mail report that the Magpies are still £8million away from meeting the £25million asking price, having launched a club-record £17million bid.
On Wednesday, Almiron’s agent Daniel Campos spoke to ABC in Paraguay, and revealed that he has at least spoken to Newcastle about salary expectations at St James’ Park.

Campos did though add that there hasn’t been much movement with Newcastle, and clubs from England, Germany, Italy or Spain could swoop in and sign Almiron if they don’t increase their bid.
Newcastle fans have been taking to Twitter as a result, suggesting that the club are a shambles for not being able to get this deal over the line after all this time, with fans not surprised and even fed up at another target seemingly slipping from their grasp.
One fan even compared the situation to missing out on Dele Alli in 2015, with some believing that Almiron will inevitably join another Premier League club and become a star if Newcastle don’t act soon.
