Newcastle United have sold out their fifth successive game for their trip to Aston Villa on September 24 and many members of the Toon Army are frustrated that more tickets weren’t available.

Magpies fans snapped up the 2,800 tickets allocated for away supporters but people have taken to twitter to complain that Villa supporters will only half fill Villa Park.

Rafa Benitez’s side are in impressive form after winning their third road game in a row on Tuesday night when they showed no mercy in their 6-0 blowout at QPR so it’s no surprise that fans are more than happy to travel and continue showing their support for the team.

Aston Villa have not had the same success since being relegated from the Premier League with their North East opponents, having only won one game since the start of the season and currently sitting 17th in the league.

The draw against Brentford last night saw a below-average attendance of 29,752 with supporters showing their frustration by the final whistle.

Aston Villa have been averaging home attendances of 34,105 with only Newcastle fans outdoing them in the Championship, averaging over 50,000.

The teams only played each other twice last season, with both matches ending in a draw however, both teams will be hoping to prove themselves in this fixture after the serious summer spending to rejuvenate their sides.

The game kicks off at 5.30pm and will be the first time these two sides have met in the second tier of English football since 1938.
