Daryl Janmaat has claimed Newcastle United fans expect far beyond the club’s realistic expectations and are quick to moan and as you can predict, the Watford defender’s comments have not gone down well with the St. James’ Park faithful.

The 29-year-old right-back left Newcastle in the summer of 2016 after the club’s relegation to the Championship to join current side Watford, where he has since remained.

He clocked up 77 appearances in all competitions for The Toon before leaving to move to Vicarage Road, scoring four goals and creating 10 strikes from the right side of defence.

Janmaat has since impressed at Watford, remaining the club’s undisputed number one right-back. He has scored five goals in 59 appearances for the Hornets, starting all six of the club’s opening Premier League games before a knee injury.

Janmaat aimed a dig at the Newcastle support when asked what the Watford fans were like, stating that it is a lot better than The Toon faithful: “It’s massively different to my former club. Newcastle fans expect too much and can moan quickly.”

Newcastle fans were not impressed with their former player’s comments, with many stating that if he had performed to a better and more hard-working standard then he would not have received such backlash from fans.

Janmaat is sure to get a hostile response after his comments from Newcastle fans when the Tyneside club travel south to Hertforshire to take on Watford on December 29. Here are some responses:
