A Newcastle United fan has delivered a perfect response to the Premier League’s Twitter account.

The Magpies supporters are still waiting for the league to greenlight the £300 million takeover of the St James’s Park club.

It’s been six weeks since the deal was struck between Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and Saudi Public Investment Fund.

But the delays are frustrating a lot of fans of the North-East giants – and one supporter has summed it up on social media.

Joe Halliday responded to a non-Newcastle tweet from the Premier League and here’s how the exchange panned out.

It’s believed that the Premier League is conducting such a rigourous background check because of allegations relating to broadcast piracy against the Saudi PIF.

But The Chronicle reported this week that Ashley and the prospective new owners – which include Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers – are confident of the deal being sanctioned.
