Newcastle United are in the Championship at the moment, while Sunderland are in the Premier League.

Newcastle United fan Graeme Swann has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Sunderland will get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

Former England international cricket star Swann made the suggestion in response to a comment from a Sunderland fan.

The 37-year-old was following the Premier League game between the Black Cats and Stoke City at the weekend.

David Moyes’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Potters at the Stadium of Light on Saturday afternoon. Swann was pleased to see Peter Crouch score for the visiting team in the 34th minute.

A Sunderland fan did not enjoy Swann’s tweet and replied to his message on the social networking site, and the former cricketer hit back.

Sunderland are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 15 points from 21 matches.

The Black Cats are just a point behind 17th-placed Crystal Palace and are in genuine danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle currently find themselves at the top of the Championship table with 55 points from 26 matches, just a point clear of second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion, who have a game in hand.
