Newcastle United defender Dan Burn has heaped praise on fellow January signing Kieran Trippier after his huge impact at St James’ Park.

The Magpies have now won three games in a row and appear upwardly mobile in their battle against relegation.

After a 1-0 win over Leeds United, Newcastle beat Everton 3-1 and Aston Villa 1-0, moving four points clear of the drop zone.

January signing Trippier has proven to be absolutely vital in those games, especially in the home wins over Everton and Villa.

Trippier sealed the win over Everton by bending a sumptuous free kick past England teammate Jordan Pickford.

On Sunday, Trippier again scored from a set piece, with his deflected free kick heading past Emiliano Martinez and into the net.

Sadly, Trippier picked up a foot injury having been stamped on, and a broken bone could now keep him out for weeks, even months.

Losing Trippier is a monumental blow to Newcastle’s hopes of survival, as he has already shown that he has quality far beyond the rest of the Magpies squad.

The hope is that Trippier will return quickly and continue the fine performances, propelling Newcastle far and away from the relegation zone.

Now, fellow January signing Dan Burn has raved about Trippier whilst speaking to the Daily Mail.

Burn claims Trippier is a ‘different level’ to anything Newcastle have had in a long, long time.

Allan Saint-Maximin may have captured the hearts of fans, but Trippier is so consistent, possessing quality both on and off the ball whilst being a great character.

That’s why Newcastle players love him, with Burn admitting that the squad feed off the right back just weeks after his arrival from Atletico Madrid.

“Tripps is a different level of quality that we probably haven’t had here for a long time,” said Burn. “He’s won La Liga, he’s a regular England international and he shows it. The lads feed off him,” he added.
