Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could reach a compromise with Leeds United over the signing of Tottenham Hotspur target Jack Harrison, according to The Athletic.

The report published this morning has claimed that Newcastle were considering triggering Harrison’s release clause had Leeds been relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

The Athletic have reported that although Leeds’s ‘asking price is more than Newcastle are willing to pay, a compromise could be reached’.

The Telegraph claimed last month that Leeds are looking for £30 million as transfer fee for Harrison, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder.

The Daily Mail reported on May 22 that Tottenham and Newcastle are interested in signing Harrison from Premier League rivals Leeds in the summer transfer window.

Could Jack Harrison from Leeds United to Newcastle United happen?

In our opinion, Leeds United are unlikely to sell Jack Harrison to Newcastle United for anything less than what they want.

The Whites have retained their Premier League status for next season, and although the 25-year-old is open to a move away, he is not forcing an exit.

We do not think that Newcastle will be able to sign the English winger – described as “very, very skilful” by former Leeds and Spurs striker Robbie Keane on Sky Sports Premier League (5:23pm, November 21, 2022) – unless they pay what the Whites want for him.

Harrison has scored 16 goals and created 13 big chances in 71 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
