Next season is massive for Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe has convincingly steered the Magpies away from the relegation zone in the Premier League and for much of 2022, the Magpies have been one of the best teams in England.
But Howe will be expected to help the Tyneside outfit kick on tremendously next term.
However, the Newcastle boss will be heavily backed by Saudi Public Investment Fund, who are worth hundreds of billions and that, in theory, should help the former Bournemouth manager.
But despite Saudi PIF’s fortune, one of United’s best signings could be someone who’s absolutely free.
Free transfer
Newcastle were linked with a move to sign Arsenal hitman Eddie Nketiah in January.
The Times reported on deadline day that the 22-year-old was very interested in a transfer to St James’s Park, but nothing materialised.
But if Howe is still keen, Nketiah is likely available.
Charles Watts claimed on his YouTube channel this week that the Gunners striker is still likely to quit the North Londoners this summer when his contract expires, meaning Newcastle can sign the player for absolutely free.
Again, if Howe is still interested – but why wouldn’t he be?
Since Newcastle’s interest in January, Nketiah’s stock has risen a lot; particularly over the past few weeks following a brilliant brace in a 4-2 victory away to Chelsea.
Labelled ‘phenomenal‘ by Mikel Arteta, anybody who can score twice at Stamford Bridge, and help Arsenal to wins over Manchester United and West Ham in subsequent outings, is somebody worth bringing in.
And when he’s free, well in that case it’s a no-brainer.
Newcastle will be throwing a lot of money around during the summer transfer window, but a tried-and-tested Premier League player is worth his weight in gold and despite the budget, a Bosman may prove one of Howe’s finest additions during the off-season if the Magpies coach is keen.
