Napoli reportedly want to offload Hirving Lozano, with Newcastle United previously linked to the Mexican international and the player himself even discussing a move to St. James Park.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via GIFN, the Serie A side are close to signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the summer, meaning the future of Lozano is all but set to be away from Napoli, with the winger struggling for minutes this season.

Whilst Lozano has bagged five goals and four assists in all competitions for Napoli, the 26-year-old has started just one Serie A game in all of 2022, and now the club are looking at selling the attacker.

However, one club that could make a move for Lozano is Newcastle, who in May of last year were linked to the forward as reported by AreaNapoli, with the former PSV star even speaking about the rumours of a move to the Magpies five months ago.

Signed by Napoli in 2019 for a reported £36m according to Bleacher Report, the Mexican trickster has enjoyed bright sparks with the Partenopei, Lozano’s spell in southern Italy has largely been a disappointment.

Indeed, with Napoli now looking at replacing Lozano this summer, a transfer would be the best course of action for the attacker, and Newcastle could be an exciting opportunity for the former Pachuca talent.

Lozano leaving Napoli for Newcastle could be a stroke of genius

With rumours suggesting that Newcastle’s own entertainer Allan Saint-Maximin could be on the move this summer, signing Lozano as a replacement for the Frenchman could be a strike of genius from the Toon.

After all, with the Mexican a more direct and productive player than Saint-Maximin, Lozano could become a sensation on Tyneside should Newcastle make a move for the winger, especially if Napoli are now certain on selling the forward this summer.
