Newcastle could soon get their hands on another bargain in the transfer market as Eddie Howe eyes a move for Paulo Dybala.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Calciomercato – Newcastle are interested in signing the Argentina international.

The 29-year-old has been superb for Roma this season, scoring 11 goals while also providing seven assists in 21 performances.

With stunning displays on a regular basis and a contract running until June 2025, Newcastle fans would expect Dybala to cost a significant sum of money – however, it is believed that he is available for just €12m (£11m).

Some Newcastle supporters will be aware that Trippier cost a similar amount in a £12m move from Atlético Madrid.

The rumour about Dybala isn’t so much of a rumour, but could arguably be considered more of a fact as it was the reliable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio who made the claim.

However, even if Newcastle end up triggering the extremely enticing clause, the South American would have to agree to join the Magpies, as Di Marzio adds that Roma’s No.21 will have the final say.

Newcastle can attract Dybala

With all due respect to the north of England, it may be tough for Howe to convince Dybala to swap Rome for Tyneside.

However – geographical location aside – Newcastle can lure the Argentine to St James’ Park if they maintain their current position of fourth in the Premier League.

Dybala has often played Champions League football throughout his career, making 53 appearances in Europe’s leading club competition compared to just three in the Europa League.

Therefore, qualifying for the Champions League would provide Newcastle with a major boost in their hopes of luring one of Europe’s most talented footballers to Tyneside.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Newcastle aim to attract José Mourinho’s talisman to St James’ Park.
