Newcastle could now be about to do something that no other Magpies side has ever done in the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well – almost unbelievably when you consider the talent Newcastle once had in attack – the Magpies have never seen three players hit double figures for goals in one Premier League campaign.

Even during the days of Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand scoring for fun, a third player never joined them on double figures for Premier League goals – a fact discovered after an exhaustive search of every single Premier League campaign in Newcastle’s history.

Now – however – Eddie Howe’s Champions League challengers could change that.

After scoring twice in Wednesday’s 5-1 win over West Ham, Callum Wilson has now bagged ten Premier League goals this season, joining Miguel Almiron – who has 11 – on double figures.

Alexander Isak also scored in east London on Wednesday, taking his tally to seven Premier League goals.

Therefore, if the Sweden international – who is in red hot form – manages to score just three more goals in Newcastle’s remaining ten Premier League games, it would set a new club record.

Very encouraging for Newcastle

It is not often that we see a side with so many goalscoring sources.

Most teams tend to just have one talisman who hits double figures, although it speaks volumes about the cohesive unit Howe has created that three players could hit double figures for goals this season.

Perhaps most encouraging for Newcastle fans is the fact that there remains room for improvement, as a goalscoring midfielder in the centre of the field could make the Magpies even more dangerous.

Be sure to keep an eye on Isak across the coming weeks, as the £63m man could write his own bit of Newcastle history if he scores three more goals in the remaining ten games.
