Newcastle United may spend in the January transfer window.
Newcastle United have claimed two wins in a row now, and Rafael Benitez will be looking up the table ahead of their return from the international break.
The Magpies will be looking to get on a good run of form before the January transfer window, with Benitez no doubt keen to bolster his squad.
Last January was a struggle; Newcastle waited until the dying embers of the window to bring in three new faces, as Martin Dubravka, Kenedy and Islam Slimani all arrived at St James’ Park.
Benitez will hope for quicker business this time around, and the Chronicle recently suggested that Newcastle may be about to break their transfer record – which still stands at £16million from Michael Owen’s 2005 move.
Mike Ashley has been reluctant to release funds for such a move in recent history, and it seems likely that Benitez would only be given one big signings, which means he may have to decide between two top targets.
Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron is one target, having hit 13 goals and 13 assists in this MLS season, with the Paraguayan bringing real creativity as a dynamic number 10.
Eintracht Frankfurt target man Sebastien Haller is the other big name mentioned having smashed 10 goals and seven assists in 17 games this term, and both players would break the Newcastle record in January.
Newcastle boss Benitez would then have to pick between the two, and with Salomon Rondon doing a serviceable job up top, Almiron may just take priority in order to give Newcastle a little more creativity in the final third.
It’s tough to have two impressive targets and have to pick between them, but that is what Benitez may have to do in January, giving the Spaniard a major dilemma even if Newcastle let him break their transfer record.
