Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are planning a bid for Hugo Ekitike.

That is according to 90min, which has claimed interest from two other clubs in the Premier League in the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

So, what is being reported about Newcastle United and Hugo Ekitike? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to 90min, Newcastle United are interested in signing Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.

The report has noted that Newcastle tried to sign the striker before he moved to PSG and could make a bid for him in the middle of the season.

The Magpies were linked with the French youngster just a few months back as well.

PSG reportedly wanted to offload the 21-year-old in the summer of 2023.

However, Newcastle are facing a problem.

According to 90min, Crystal Palace are keen on the striker, while West Ham United are also monitoring the situation. The Hammers have been linked with Timo Werner as well.

The report has added that Ekitike is ready to leave PSG in January.

Newcastle United could be appealing to Hugo Ekitike

In my opinion, Newcastle United could be hugely appealing to Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike.

I believe that if Newcastle make a bid, then both PSG and Ekitike would find it tempting.

PSG head coach Luis Enrique clearly does not rate Ekitike. After all, the 21-year-old has made just one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 all season.

So, if Newcastle make a good offer, then PSG will cash in on the striker they paid £30 million for (90min).

Secondly, Ekitike himself could be tempted to make the move to Newcastle.

The Magpies are a big and established club in the Premier League who are playing in the UEFA Champions League this season and could finish in the top four yet again.

Callum Wilson has had injury problems, so there is a need for a striker at Newcastle. Ekitike could get to play regularly for the Magpies.
