Clinton Morrison has said on Sky Sports News (2:01pm, January 14, 2023) that Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United could be interested in signing Leandro Trossard from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

The former Crystal Palace forward has said that Newcastle could be an option for Trossard, who reportedly wants to leave Brighton in the middle of the season.

The Athletic have reported that the 28-year-old winger has fallen out with Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The 28-year-old Belgium international’s agent wants the Seagulls to facilitate a move for the winger this month.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a verbal offer of £12 million for Trossard turned down, according to the report.

Unlikely January transfer

In our view, Newcastle United are unlikely to sign Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window.

The Magpies are well stocked in the attacking department at the moment.

Moreover, would boss Eddie Howe really sign a player who has had a public fallout with his current manager?

We do not think so.

Trossard has scored 25 goals and created 17 big chances in 116 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
