Newcastle United have reportedly begun contract talks with Bruno Guimaraes amid reports that Real Madrid are interested in signing the Brazilian international.
According to iG Esporte, the Premier League side have opened discussions with the midfielder over a new deal following growing rumours that Carlo Ancelotti could make a summer move for Guimaraes, with Newcastle now taking steps to sign the midfielder to fresh terms.
Guimaraes signed for Newcastle last January and has since firmly established himself as one of the club’s best players and a talent who could play a key role for the Magpies in the years to come, though transfer interest is building for the South American.
As per the report, English sides have taken an interest in Guimaraes, though it’s Madrid that concern Newcastle the most, with Los Blancos having the pulling power and the finances to match anything the Toon demand for their star Brazilian.

Indeed, Guimaraes signing a new contract would give Newcastle plenty of breathing room to build the club around the former Olympique Lyonnais star, who Jurgen Klopp recently lauded as ‘fantastic’. And this latest update is a promising one for Magpie supporters.
Guimaraes was the first superstar signing PIF made as owners of Newcastle, and with the club now in talks over an improved contract, there is now a good chance that the 25-year-old could pen a long-term deal that will keep the Brazilian on Tyneside in the prime years of his career.
Guimaraes signing new Newcastle contract is as big as any signing

It’s rare to say a single signing can transform a club overnight, yet a case could be made for Guimaraes and Newcastle, with the midfielder playing a huge role in the Toon’s incredible rise up the Premier League standings under Eddue Howe.
The former Ligue 1 star has brought a star quality to Newcastle’s midfield that has been lacking for years, and with the Magpies now in talks over a new contract, Guimaraes signing fresh terms could be as big as any signing the northeast side make this summer.
