Promising Newcastle United midfielder Jack Young has joined EFL League One club Wycombe Wanderers on loan until the end of the season.
21-year-old Young has been a regular for Newcastle’s U23s this season, making 12 Premier League 2 appearances.

He also started all three of the Magpies U23s’ EFL Trophy group stage fixtures.
Now, he’s headed out to Adams Park, though, in order to test himself in the third tier.
Newcastle midfielder joins Wycombe on loan
It’s a second spell away from Newcastle for Young, who spent part of last season in League Two with Tranmere Rovers, making five appearances.
The deal was confirmed by both clubs on Tuesday afternoon and Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth provided some additional information in quotes shared on the Chairboys’ official website.
“Jack has been recommended to us as a young lad worth taking a look at and he’ll give us extra depth in midfield between now and the end of the season,” he said.
“Newcastle and ourselves believe that he’ll benefit around a first-team environment and we’re looking forward to working with him to develop his game.”
Big test awaits Young
Wycombe are aiming to bounce straight back to the Championship following their relegation at the end of last season and they’re certainly giving it a good go so far.
Ainsworth’s side are fifth in the League One table, just seven points behind leaders Rotherham United, although they have played one more match than The Millers.
It’ll be good for Young’s development to be involved in a promotion push in a very competitive league, but based on the manager’s initial comments, he’ll need to work hard to earn playing time.
