Bournemouth have been promoted to the Premier League – and that may just kill off Newcastle United’s hopes of signing Lloyd Kelly and Dominic Solanke.
The Cherries faced a huge game on Tuesday night as third-placed Nottingham Forest made the trip to the South Coast.
Forest were just three points behind Bournemouth and with better goal difference, a win would have put them in the box seat for promotion.
On a tense night at the Vitality Stadium it took just one goal to win it with Kieffer Moore firing a late winner.
Now six points clear of Forest with one game to play, Bournemouth are promoted back to the Premier League.
Scott Parker will now hope for big summer signings but it promotion also means that there may not be some difficult sales after all.
The Daily Mail reported that missing out on promotion would likely see some key players leave.
Lloyd Kelly, Dominic Solanke, Philip Billing and Jefferson Lerma were mentioned as players who may have been sold if Bournemouth missed out.
It instead looks like all four players will be staying put, which may not be ideal news for Newcastle United.
Remarkable, Newcastle have been linked with all four players mentioned.
The strongest link has been with Kelly. Dean Jones suggested in March that Kelly was one of the most likely signings for Newcastle this summer.

It’s now hard to see the Bournemouth captain leaving even if Eddie Howe loves him.
The Telegraph reported Newcastle’s interest in striker Solanke in January with Howe keen on a reunion.
Solanke has smashed 29 goals in 45 games this season and will now hope to finally prove himself in the Premier League.
90Min added that Newcastle fancied signing midfielder Billing as well as teammate Lerma in January with Howe eyeing various raids on his former club Bournemouth.
Seeing Bournemouth miss out on promotion may have given Newcastle hope of a quadruple swoop, but those hopes are now over with the Cherries celebrating.
