Newcastle United have made a first move for Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing by enquiring about a January deal.

That’s according to 90Min, who claim that Newcastle are sending in enquiries for new signings left, right and centre.

Three Bournemouth players are on the list, with Billing joining defenders Steve Cook and Lloyd Kelly on Eddie Howe’s wish list.

Newcastle have initiated contact to try and sign Billing, but it’s unclear how that approach has gone.

Bournemouth are looking to win promotion to the Premier League and selling key players to Newcastle in January won’t exactly help.

Billing, 25, has been in stunning form this season. With seven goals and four assists from just 20 league games, Billing has been outstanding.

A giant presence at 6ft 6in tall, Billing could bring something different to the Newcastle midfield whilst he already knows Howe well.

What has Howe said about Newcastle target Billing?

Howe was in charge of Bournemouth when they signed Billing from Huddersfield Town for £15million in 2019.

In 2020, Howe suggested that Billing has a ‘ferocious’ left foot and wanted to see him score more goals – which is now happening in the Championship.

Intriguingly, Billing told Tipsbladet in his native Denmark back in 2020 that Howe was the reason he joined Bournemouth.

Billing had offers from elsewhere, but claimed Howe ‘pulled’ him towards Bournemouth.

Billing may soon have the chance to join up with Howe again, as Newcastle eye a January raid for him.
