Newcastle United are heavily linked to Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has refused to rule out a January swoop for Miguel Almirón.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle have watched the 24-year-old no fewer than nine times this season.
Meanwhile, The Mirror reported that the Magpies would have to pay some £25 million if they want the Atlanta United midfielder.
But does Benitez want him? Here’s what the Spaniard told a press conference today, as quoted by The Chronicle.
“Who is the name? Who does he play for? It’s not January we keep on working,” he told a press conference, via The Chronicle.
“I was watching the TV the other day and I saw the name. We don’t talk about the transfer window.
“We have one month, the team is doing well and we must concentrate on all these games rather than talk about ‘names.”
Benitez was indeed joking when he asked who the Paraguay international played for, and his refusal to rule out a transfer could be interpreted that Almiron is very much on his radar.

But for £25 million? Well, that seems a very unlikely figure for Newcastle to pay.
After all, the 24-year-old has never played in Europe, having joined the MLS from South American football, and that figure represents a massive risk for such a player.
Almiron has managed 12 goals and 14 assists from 32 standard MLS games this season. It might be North American football, but they are very impressive stats for a midfielder and it’s no wonder that Newcastle are reportedly keen.
