Magpies boss Rafa Benitez managed to successfully guide his side back to the Premier League this season, after their bitterly disappointing campaign last year ending in relegation to the Championship.

He told reporters how highly he ranks his most recent achievement amongst all the other accolades he has won during his time in management, as quoted by the Sun, on page 52 of Monday’s print edition.

Despite Newcastle’s happy ending to their season, it was a campaign of many ups and downs, and they were never really assured of automatic promotion until their win over Preston North-End two weeks ago mathematically secured their place inside the top two.

The Toon will be heading into next season’s Premier League campaign full of vigour and enthusiasm, and with Benitez at the helm, there is a genuine feeling on Tyneside that the good times could be set to return to St James’ Park.

The Spaniard spoke to reporters after his side’s dramatic title win yesterday, and responded when asked where he ranks this season’s trophy amongst all of his other achievements throughout his career in the game, as quoted by the Sun:

“How does this trophy compare to others? I have been a manager for so many years, but you appreciate it more when you get older. When you play 46 game sin a very difficult season after going down, to do it, and to do it in style is really emotional, and I’m very proud.”

The Magpies will now be expected to spend heavily in the summer, as Benitez’ Spanish revolution on Tyneside continues to gather pace, and if they do that, they have every chance of enjoying a successful campaign when they return to the top flight.
