Leicester City are considering trying to hire Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez, report the Northern Echo.

Benitez is reported to be growing increasingly fed up with a lack of investment at Newcastle, while Leicester are considering a fresh change of direction and moving on from Claude Puel.

Whether Benitez would be keen on the Leicester job is currently unclear.

One player he would relish working with however is striker Jamie Vardy.

Just last year Benitez went out of his way to praise Vardy at a press conference.

He was quoted by the Chronicle: “Jamie Vardy has done really well in the last two or three years.

“He’s been at a fantastic level.

“He can see his desire and passion in every game – he really is quite dangerous.”

In his managerial career Benitez has worked with some of the world’s best forwards, from Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid to Fernando Torres during his peak at Liverpool.

Vardy may have just turned 32, but he could enjoy working under Benitez as much as the Spaniard would relish working with him.
