West Ham United’s owners are reportedly keen on Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and in the dismissive style that he has become renowned for, refused to be drawn on reports linking him with the Hammers managerial role, as quoted by the Shields Gazette.
The Spaniard has performed admirably during his time as Newcastle boss, by guiding his side to the top of the Championship table.
The Tyneside outfit look to be on course for promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and the manner in which Benitez has gone about his business at St James’ Park has led to his already high stock within the game rising even further still.
And reports emanated this week claiming that West Ham were lining up the former Liverpool and Real Madrid coach to replace Slaven Bilic this summer (the Sun).
But Benitez refused to speculate on the links, when quizzed by reporters during his pre-match press conference today, as quoted by the Shields Gazette:
“My message is very clear. I don’t want to waste much time talking about the next signings or the manager. Why do I need to talk about ‘maybe this’ or ‘maybe that’. It’s very clear. Concentrate on Wigan and try to win and get promoted and go up. I can concentrate on my target, which is to win. That’s it.”
The Toon Army will be hoping that they keep hold of their manager during the off-season, because there is a genuine feeling on Tyneside that with Benitez at the helm, the sky is the limit for Newcastle.
