Lejeune suffered a knee injury during Newcastle’s pre-season.

Florian Lejeune will have provided Newcastle United and Rafa Benitez with a huge boost after confirming on Instagram that he has one month left of rehabilitation to undergo before returning to action.
The 27-year-old centre-back suffered a knee injury during pre-season, featuring only once for Benitez’s side against Irish outfit St. Pat’s Athletic. He then failed to play against Hull City a few days later.
Benitez confirmed at the time that the former Manchester City defender had suffered a knee injury, before Lejeune himself confirmed he had picked up a anterior cruciate ligament injury.
With some experiencing a whole year on the sidelines, Lejeune will have provided fans with optimism after posting on Instagram that he is “one month” away from supposedly returning to action.

Newcastle brought in a replacement for the Frenchman following his injury, signing both Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez while Chancel Mbemba left the club to join FC Porto.
Lejeune was a key member of Newcastle’s squad last season but was limited to only 24 appearances as he develops a reputation of being somewhat injury prone.
Newcastle have four Premier League fixtures against Arsenal, Leicester, Crystal Palace and Manchester United before the next international break in October. After the gap, Lejeune could be ready to return.
