There had been fears that Newcastle defender Yedlin would be sidelined for quite some time.

Newcastle United have received a timely boost ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Cardiff City after the club’s Twitter account confirmed DeAndre Yedlin had returned to training on Thursday.
Yedlin, 25, limped off the St. James’ Park turf on Saturday after injuring his knee during the 2-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur, and it was feared that he could be sidelined for some time.
Indeed, Newcastle are currently lacking in full-backs, with Jamie Sterry yet to make his Premier League bow and Javier Manquillo failing to impress the Toon supporters since his £4.5m move last summer.
Newcastle confirmed on their official Twitter account that USA international Yedlin had somewhat surprisingly returned to training considering the fears that he could be out for a while. He is now in contention to face Cardiff on Saturday.
Yedlin is now likely to start on the right side of defence against Cardiff on Saturday, with the former Spurs and Sunderland speed machine becoming one of the first names on Rafa Benitez’s team sheet last season.
Newcastle will be hoping to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Spurs this time around, with new signings Federico Fernandez, Ki Sung-yueng, Salomon Rondon, Yoshinori Muto and Fabian Schar all looking to make their first start.
