Newcastle United have joined Arsenal and West Ham United for the signature of highly-rated forward Alexis Claude-Maurice.

Newcastle have joined West Ham United and Arsenal for the signature for Lorient winger Alexis Claude-Maurice, according to Sky Sports.
It is said that Claude-Maurice is keen on a move to Arsenal, but 10 other clubs, including Newcastle, are keen on his services this summer.
Given Arsenal’s current situation and their recent history in the transfer market, it wouldn’t surprise many if they fail to push through a deal for the France U20 international.
But it would be the biggest surprise and shock of the summer if Newcastle somehow pull off a deal for the versatile attacker despite him not being a completely known figure in Europe.
Newcastle supporters would love a player like Claude-Maurice on their books because it would show their ambition as a club and ambition to compete against some of Europe’s best.

But with Mike Ashley in charge and the future of Rafa Benitez yet to be resolved, the North East club should have other more serious matters on their minds.
However, in the midst of all that, if they secure the signature of Claude-Maurice then it’ll no doubt send shockwaves throughout St James’ Park.
Perhaps Newcastle should look towards their capture of Miguel Almiron in January as perhaps hope, albeit faint, that there is still a chance that a player of quality, and that with big promise ahead of them, will be walking through their doors this summer.
