Barcelona are so desperate to sell winger Ousmane Dembele that they have now offered him to Newcastle United in a €20million (£16.7million) deal.
That’s according to a report from Catalan newspaper SPORT, who claim that Dembele is openly available.
It’s stated that Dembele is ‘light years away’ from signing a new contract with Barcelona. The club subsequently won’t just sit back and let him leave for nothing when his deal ends this summer.
Barcelona want to make cash on Dembele whilst they still can, meaning they have now offered him to two Premier League clubs.
Manchester United and Newcastle United are the two clubs Dembele has been offered to, with a price tag of just €20million (£16.7million).
That’s quite the drop from the £135million Barcelona paid to sign Dembele from Borussia Dortmund in 2017.
With Dembele just months away from leaving for nothing though, Barcelona aren’t exactly in a strong negotiating position over the man Lionel Messi called a ‘phenomenon’.
Dembele is believed to be ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing in England, but do these clubs really make sense?
Newcastle are in a battle against relegation, and there are no guarantees that they will stay up even after bringing in signings this month.
Dembele would be in real danger of playing in the Championship next season if he joins Newcastle, which surely wouldn’t be in his plans.
Joining forces with fellow Frenchman Allan Saint-Maximin could be hugely exciting, but it’s surely just too big of a risk.

As for Manchester United, is another right-sided winger really what they need?
United spent so long chasing Jadon Sancho but haven’t been able to get the best out of him.
Maybe focus on building up Sancho and justifying the huge investment before bringing in another winger?
It’s hard enough work trying to juggle Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Sancho without bringing another winger into the mix.
Dembele just doesn’t make sense for United right now, and with Newcastle too big of a risk right now, a January move to England seems difficult – even if he’s available.
