Newcastle United’s search for new signings is now taking them to Aston Villa with teenager Tristan Goodridge believed to be on trial with the Magpies.
The natural expectation is that Newcastle will splash the cash on big-money signings this summer.
PIF’s investment will certainly put Newcastle in a strong position in the transfer market but the Magpies are looking to bulk up their development ranks too.
The Birmingham Mail now claim that Villa teenager Goodridge has been training with Newcastle of late ahead of a potential move.
Goodridge featured for Newcastle’s Under-23’s on Friday night, playing 45 minutes of a 4-2 defeat against Middlesbrough.
This seemingly indicates that the 19-year-old will be allowed to leave Villa this summer and Newcastle are now taking a close look.
Goodridge has impressed in Premier League 2 this season, bagging four goals and three assists in 17 Premier League 2 games.
Add in one goal and two assists in four EFL Trophy games and Goodridge has made a real impact this term.
Villa seemingly feel that Goodridge won’t make the step up to the Premier League though and could let him leave this summer.

Newcastle may feel differently and are more than prepared to take a close look at Goodridge ahead of a possible deal this summer.
Being substituted at half time isn’t a great start for Goodridge, but Newcastle may simply be managing his minutes for now.
Formerly of AFC Wimbledon, Goodridge is a diminutive winger at just 5ft 4in tall whilst he has also played as a number 10 or striker.
Newcastle swooped to sign Remi Savage from the Liverpool ranks last summer and are now putting themselves in a position to do the same with Villa’s Goodridge this summer.
