The Paraguay star is said to be interesting clubs including Newcastle United and West Ham United.
Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United and West Ham United, have been warned that Atlanta United will not entertain offers of less than £30 million for Miguel Almiron, the Daily Mirror reports.
The newspaper names Almiron, the 24-year-old Paraguayan attacking midfielder, as Newcastle’s number one January target, while also listing West Ham and Arsenal as rival suitors.
But the Atlanta president, Darren Eales, is quoted as having told the same publication: “I will only get out of bed when it (an offer) starts with a 3! That is the sort of level it has to be for a player of his quality.
“He’s that good? Yes, he’s great really. I am not surprised there is interest from top clubs. He has got great ability. He is faster with the ball than without. He reminds me a lot of Gareth Bale in that respect, from when I was at Spurs.”
And Eales reportedly added: “One of his greatest qualities is he does both sides of the game. He is a mercurial talent.
“He scores free kicks, he sets up people, like Jose Martinez in our final. He also track back. He will make a 60-yard run to back. He is the ultimate in term of going both ways. He is a team player.
“The reality is he is under contract at a club that has just won the title and he plays in front of over 70,000 fans and has an owner who is a billionaire and has had the taste of winning… so it has got to be an offer that is going to be good for the player, good for the league and most importantly good for Atlanta United.”
Eales allegedly insisted, however, that “serious discussions” have yet to take place regarding Almiron’s sale, and described the figures bandied about in the media as “chump-change”.
The Englishman’s comments come just hours after Almiron posted a cryptic message on Instagram, which read: “Next stop?”
The rumoured Newcastle and West Ham target scored 13 goals and created the same amount in 38 games for Atlanta this season just passed, helping his employers to MLS Cup success.
He moved to the Mercedez-Benz Stadium from Lanus in 2016 and has won 12 caps for Paraguay.
