Newcastle and West Ham were both looking at moves to sign PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa in the January transfer window and now, French site Foot Mercato reports the left-back will be left out of his side’s tour of Japan.
PSG are embarking on a pre-season tour of Japan where they will face Japanese sides Kawasaki Frontale, Urawa Red Diamonds and Gamba Osaka over the next fortnight. But Luis Campos is being tasked with skimming the side.
The Ligue 1 champions, who recently sacked Mauricio Pochettino and replaced him with Christopher Galtier, are expected to leave seven or eight first-team players at home. Kurzawa, as per FM, is one of those.

The 29-year-old managed one outing for PSG last season – a substitute appearance in the French version of the Community Shield in August. He has a contract at PSG until the summer of 2024 and PSG will want rid.
Now, he has been left out of the tour. In January, reports stated that both Newcastle and West Ham were keen on a move for the France international. He is currently earning £89,000 a week at PSG, as per Salary Sport.
Newcastle and West Ham were looking at Kurzawa: Left out of PSG tour
With Kurzawa now set to leave PSG, will either Premier League side reignite previous interest? Well, Newcastle have just landed Matty Targett on a permanent basis. It is unlikely the Toon will sign another left-back.
They have Jamal Lewis, Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett on the books. But West Ham might – with Arthur Masuaku’s form and injury issues a concern. Aaron Cresswell has been used in the middle of defence of late.
With a Europa Conference League campaign coming up, West Ham might want more competition on the left. Kurzawa could be targeted. It all depends on his transfer fee and his wages, but it is a move that makes sense.
