Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Ham have all scouted Nordsjaelland teenager Sindre Walle Egeli with a host of Premier League clubs keeping tabs on Norway’s latest rising star.

While under-fire manager Stale Solbakken is yet to get a consistent tune out of his Scandinavian charges, Norway do possess one deepest talent pools outside of European football’s established elite these days

Beyond the obvious luminaries such as Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland – plus Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson, Fulham’s Sander Berge, and Atletico Madrid’s new £30 million striker Alexander Sorloth – an exciting new generation has a long-suffering fanbase looking forward to better days.

Former Palace target Antonio Nusa, still only 19, has made a flying start to life in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig. Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb started the season in dazzling fashion too before suffering a broken leg.

Sindre Walle Egeli, meanwhile, is coming on leaps and bounds at a Nordsjaelland outfit who continue to grow their reputation as an elite developer of young talent.

Newcastle and West Ham in race for Sindre Walle Egeli

HITC understands that Newcastle United have scouted Egeli this season. As have the London-based trio of West Ham, Brentford and a Crystal Palace side still in the market for a direct Michael Olise replacement.

There is also interest from a Brighton and Hove Albion outfit who have signed two Nordsjaelland starlets in recent times, Simon Adingra and then Ibrahim Osman moving to The Amex for a combined fee of around £23 million.

Egeli only turned 18 in June.

A left-footed attacker who prefers to play off the right, the teenager has exploded out of the blocks in 2024/25. He earned a first ever senior Norway appearance in Friday’s 0-0 draw with Kazakhstan after scoring three goals and providing an assist in his last four Nordsjaelland appearances.

“He is quiet and calm, works very hard, is very dedicated, (and) really wants to be a footballer,” Peder Jalland, who coached Egeli at youth level for the national team, tells Netavisen.

“He has always had some abilities in the final third in relation to shooting. The ability in the box, to show up and be in the right place, and a surprisingly good right foot, which he sometimes forgets himself!

“He has some abilities there that are special. (Egeli as a player is) very exciting, one I have not seen very often.”

Egeli recently signed a contract extension until the summer of 2028.

Should he continue to develop at his current rate, it is highly unlikely that the forward will even be a Nordsjaelland player come 2026, however,

At his best when facing up against full-backs one-v-one, Egeli has been hailed for his ‘extreme’ passing and dribbling ability, per Netavisen. The player himself agrees with the assessment of senior Norway boss Solbakken, however, when he labels his trusty left boot as his most useful asset.

Norway starlet addresses Arjen Robben comparisons

“He is a notorious goalscorer,” Solbakken explains to EuroSport after handing Egeli a well-deserved maiden call-up. “He has an exceptional left foot and has a nose for goal. He scores goals in very different ways.”

As is typical of many attacking southpaws who like to cut in from the flank and fire shots at goal – such as Liverpool wonderkid Ben Doak – comparisons have been draw with Bayern Munich legend Arjen Robben.

Comparisons that Egeli is certainly not shying away from.

“I would say that my left foot is clearly my greatest skill. You can say that I’m a bit like Arjen Robben, since I’m on the right and like to cut in,” Egeli adds. “But I’m probably not quite the same (as him).

“The development I have had in the last year has been very great. In the last two months, I have gained a lot of confidence and I have played well when I have had the chance. I have shown myself and scored a number of goals.”
