All of a sudden, Newcastle have become the richest club on the planet as the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia take the reins from Mike Ashley.
The PIF – who will own 80% of the Magpies, with 10% going to Amanda Staveley and another 10% to Jamie Reuben – are worth £320bn.
Unsurprisingly, a number of world-class footballers have now been linked to Newcastle, including Paris Saint-Germain forward Mauro Icardi.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Calciomercato who revealed that Newcastle are interesting in signing the Argentina international.
A separate report from Calciomercato claimed that Tottenham were also keen on the PSG No.9, who plays under Mauricio Pochettino.
Icardi has scored three goals in eight Ligue 1 appearances for PSG this season, which is respectable considering he must compete with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in attack.
Who is the Newcastle and Tottenham target?

Newcastle fans are used to being linked with the likes of Jeff Hendrick and Andy Carroll, so it wouldn’t surprise us if some didn’t know of Icardi.
If that’s the case, a comparison might help.
The Daily Mail have likened Icardi to Harry Kane, which says a lot about how prolific the South American is.
Specifically, the Daily Mail mention their physical nature and old-school No.9 playing style as similar traits.

It is also said that both men are right footed, and are equally as dangerous in the air.
Icardi would be a great signing for Tottenham, but if Newcastle get their hands on him, it would be almost unbelievable.
After all, PSG paid £51.2m for the 28-year-old, and also pay him £168,000-a-week.
It would, without question, be a huge statement by Newcastle’s new owners.
