Rolando Aarons has been made to wait on the sidelines at Newcastle after recovering from injury.
The speed machine has been plagued by injury during his short career after a blistering start to life as a teenager in the black and white stripes of Newcastle’s senior side.
The Jamaican-born England Under-20 international managed just five appearances last season before rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in a Carabao Cup clash against Cheltenham Town.
However, the rapid wide man has returned to full fitness and starred in his only senior appearance of the season so far, scoring and creating Newcastle’s other goal in their 3-2 Carabao Cup loss to Nottingham Forest.
Posting on his personal Twitter account as he is forced to remain patient on the sidelines at St. James’ Park, Aarons stated that “every year” he has had his “struggles” but is determined to “overcome them”.
With doubts over the availability of Ghana international Christian Atsu, Aarons could be given a call-up to the senior side to face Manchester United on Saturday at Old Trafford.
The Toon go into the game after suffering two straight losses but could take advantage of United’s recent form, which has seen them win just one of their last four Premier League games – beating Tottenham but losing to Chelsea and Huddersfield as well as their 0-0 draw against Liverpool.
