The Leeds forward caused all sorts of problems with his power, and helped his country pick up a credible result.
USA had taken the lead through Julian Green, but Mark Patterson struck an equaliser in the closing stages to ensure that the spoils were shared.
Wood was arguably New Zealand’s man of the match in the contest though, with the Leeds striker earning great praise for his country’s supporters on social media website Twitter.
Wood has also been in impressive form for Leeds this season, and he has established his place as Garry Monk’s side’s main striker.
The former Leicester City forward has netted on seven occasions for Leeds so far this season in just 13 matches.
Wood is likely to start in Leeds’ next match, which comes against Derby County at the iPro Stadium on Saturday.
