New Zealand head coach Anthony Hudson has been singing the praises of Leeds United striker Chris Wood this week – after calling him up for the All Whites upcoming international fixtures.

New Zealand take on Mexico and the USA in international friendlies this month as they prepare for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers and Wood has been included in the squad.

Speaking about the Leeds striker this is what Hudson had to say to New Zealand Football:

“Woodsy has been superb for Leeds.

“He is a natural leader in this group and he is looking forward to the opportunity to test himself against world-class opposition.”

Wood has certainly been in good form for Leeds. Despite getting some stick from fans earlier in the season the Kiwi striker has performed well, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances for the Yorkshire club under Garry Monk.

That form has no doubt been noticed by his national team boss, who will be hoping he can translate it onto the national scene in the weeks to come.

Thee Leeds striker has scored 18 goals in 42 caps for his nation since making his debut seven years ago and will no doubt have his sights set on becoming the nation’s top scorer of all-time. Vaughan Coveny is currently the record hold on 28. Wood will be looking to close the gap this month.
