Tottenham Hotspur sealed the signing of Juan Foyth yesterday after beating Paris Saint-Germain to the Argentine defender’s signature.

Foyth, 19, featured at the recent under-20 World Cup and was already a key part of the Estudiantes side.

Moving across the world is a big deal for the centre-back, and he hopes to eventually break into Tottenham’s first team.

Foyth has expressed his gratitude to Estudiantes, and admits he one day hopes to return to the club.

Writing on Instagram alongside a picture of himself wearing an Estudiantes kit as a youngster, he wrote: “I will never stop loving these colours, and hopefully at some point I can wear them again.

“Thank you for the affection you gave me at all times.”

Foyth has signed a four-year deal at Tottenham and will take the squad place of Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has signed on loan for the season with Sheffield United.

He is the second defender Spurs have signed this summer, following fellow South American, Davinson Sanchez.

He has a lot to prove and Tottenham have according to last year’s figures, the best defence in the Premier League.

Breaking into the side will not be easy for him, but Spurs will hope he does enough over the next four years that a return to Argentina is a long, long, way off.
