New Leeds United signing Pawel Cibicki has admitted he was surprised at how quickly his move to the club came around.

After being linked with clubs early in the transfer window he made it to the final week of August still as a Malmo player, before Leeds swooped.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Cibicki admitted his move had been a little bit of a whirlwind, but he is happy to have made the switch.

Cibicki said: “It was in the last week (that Leeds made their offer) and from there it went very fast.

“I’d heard something before but I wasn’t sure if it was 100 per cent.

“Of course I was surprised because it’s a very big club but I’m very happy to be here.”

Sweden’s league season has been running for months and Cibicki is match sharp and ready to play, it is just a case of whether he fits into manager Thomas Christiansen’s plans this weekend.

Cibicki can play up front or on the wing and he will likely be a valuable option for the club this campaign.

Leeds host Burton Albion on Saturday and are hoping to earn their first Championship win at Elland Road after two draws.

They have won two cup games at home and a league victory over the Brewers will erase any concerns which may have been building after their two previous league results at the stadium.
