Felix Wiedwald says his move Leeds United is a positive step.
New Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has defended his decision to quit Werder Bremen to join the club.
Wiedwald made the surprise move last month and hopes to establish himself as the club’s first choice number one.

27-year-old Wiedwald believes he has not made a backwards step, despite leaving Bremen who finished eighth in the Bundesliga last season.
He said: “For me the change to Leeds United was not a descent, despite the second divison, but the right step. I wish all the best to Werder.”
Wiedwald went on to add that he is adjusting well to his switch to England and likes Leeds.
He said: “It’s nice. I’ve traveled a lot with the car. There are much more green areas than you would imagine in a former industrial city.”
Wiedwald has featured in Leeds’ early pre-season games, which included a 1-1 draw against Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach last week.
One of his rivals for a first team spot, Marco Silvestri, has already departed for Hellas Verona, and question marks remain over veteran Robert Green.
It is important Wiedwald can make a quick transition to English football, and he appears ‘all in’ on his move, which is a positive early sign.
