Holmes left Charlton Athletic to join Sheffield United on Monday.

New Sheffield United recruit Ricky Holmes appears to have angered Charlton Athletic supporters with a tweet he posted after his move to Bramall Lane on Monday.
Holmes, who reunites with former manager Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, leaves The Valley just six months after he signed a three-year deal with the Addicks.
Shortly after his move was confirmed, the 30-year-old posted a photo of himself holding up his new team’s shirt, to which one Charlton fan replied: “hope you go up to the premier league and then get s*** on”.
But Holmes returned, cheekily: “That would be a dream james thank you.”
Several Charlton supporters failed to see the funny side, however, with one describing Holmes’ riposte as “[a] bit disrespectful”, before questioning why the winger “could [not] at least thank the charlton fans who have supported you[,] not insult them”.
Holmes later outlined the reasoning behind his move, explaining he “might not get another chance” to play top-flight football, and would be “stupid not to take it”.
The former non-league player joins a Sheffield United side sixth in the Championship, despite a run of form which has seen them win just one of their last 10 league fixtures.
Charlton also occupy sixth position, albeit in the division below.
