Chelsea are reportedly keen on Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson.
According to The Mirror, Chelsea are stepping up their interest in signing Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson – but Tottenham Hotspur should be keen too.
The Blues may have seen Alvaro Morata pick up his form of late, but another striker appears to be on Maurizio Sarri’s wish list, even with Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham loaned out.
Wilson, 26, is now at the top of their list, having enjoyed a blistering start to the season, notching six goals and four assists in 11 games so far.
Now suggested for an England call-up, Wilson’s stock has never been higher, and Tottenham Hotspur must make sure that Chelsea don’t get a free run at the former Coventry City man.
Tottenham wanted Wilson in 2016 according to The Guardian, and surely Mauricio Pochettino’s interest has been piqued by Wilson’s stunning form so far this season.
Fernando Llorente is out of contract at the end of the season whilst Vincent Jansson is clearly unwanted, meaning another striker is needed to compete with Harry Kane, and Wilson is ideal for Spurs.
Wilson has pace and great finishing, but he’s also a smart link-up player and one of the more creative forwards in the Premier League, making him a fine complement to Kane in the Spurs attack.
Landing a deal won’t be easy, as Bournemouth will be reluctant to sell, but if Chelsea are preparing a move, then Pochettino must push for Tottenham to launch their own bid and stop their rivals landing a deal which would arguably be better for Spurs than it would for Chelsea.
