According to Het Laatste Nieuws, Arsenal are interested in signing Roman Yaremchuk from KAA Gent in the summer of 2021.

The report in the Belgian news outlet has claimed that Gent are open to selling the Ukraine international striker if they get at least €20 million (£17.37 million) as transfer fee for the 25-year-old.

This new rumour is surely a blow to Eddie Nketiah’s chances of making it at Arsenal and is yet another indication that he is unlikely to be at the Emirates Stadium next season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the number one striker at Arsenal. Alexandre Lacazette has done well this campaign and has scored the goals.

Nketiah is essentially the third-choice striker – on paper anyway – but things are likely to change.

Football.London has reported that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta plans to eventually change Gabriel Martinelli’s role from a left-sided forward to a central striker.

Teenage striker Folarin Balogun is set to sign a new contract, according to AllNigeriaSoccer. This means more competition for Nketiah to play regular first-team football.

Even if Arsenal decide to sell Lacazette this summer, Yaremchuk is likely to replace him as the back-up to Aubameyang in the team, if he joins.

Nketiah has not been great for Arsenal when he has come on, and the 21-year-old former Leeds United loanee struggling for regular playing time suggests that manager Arteta does not see him as a big player in the team.

According to WhoScored, Nketiah has made three starts and 12 substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners so far this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist in the process.

The 21-year-old English striker has scored three goals in seven Europa League matches for the Gunners this campaign, according to WhoScored.
