Celtic will play a cross-border group of games in an effort to develop some of their best young prospects.

The paper say that the Hoops will play home and away against Rangers, Hibernian, Aberdeen, Brentford and Huddersfield Town as an alternative to the SPFL Reserve League, which the four Scottish sides pulled out of over the summer.
After that run of matches, the top two clubs in the mini-competition will face off to determine an outright winner.
Although the teams involved will be primarily made up of U21 players, three overage out-field players will be eligible, as well as a senior goalkeeper.
The action got underway today against Hibs, with the two teams drawing 1-1 behind closed doors at Lennoxtown.
Who can benefit most?
Armstrong Oko-Flex is a player who should relish the chance to play against a slightly better standard of opposition. It was the youngster who levelled things for Hibernian earlier today.
Included as part of Neil Lennon’s pre-season plans during the summer, alongside others such as Karamoko Dembele, he isn’t too far away from first-team action at all.
The same could be said for new arrivals too. Both Lee O’Connor and Jonathan Afolabi featured for the young Hoops side on Tuesday and will be eager to show they can compete for places in the senior side.

O’Connor in particular has a solid playing history at youth level with Manchester United and could capitalise on defensive injuries to make his way into match squads imminently.
With others such as Daniel Arzani, who came off the bench to make a return to action against Hibs, also needing to prove themselves, the cross-border contest should be a positive one for Celtic and their young players coming through.
