Tottenham Hotspur’s reported hopes of signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona have been boosted by a new report in The Telegraph.
Earlier this week, France Football reported that Tottenham have not given up on signing the former Liverpool attacking midfielder.
The report added that Newcastle United are the Brazil international’s likely destination.
However, the 28-year-old’s weekly salary of £200,000 is reportedly a problem for Spurs.
The Telegraph has now reported that Barcelona are ready to pay a portion of Coutinho’s wages for him to move back to England on loan or stay on loan at Bayern Munich for the 2020-21 campaign.
Hope for Tottenham Hotspur
This new report in The Telegraph does give hope to Tottenham in their reported quest to sign Coutinho.
The Brazilian – who can also operate as a winger and was described as “unbelievable” by his former Liverpool teammate Glen Johnson on talkSPORT in April 2020 – is one of the best players in the world, and given his success at Anfield and his undoubted quality, he would make Spurs a much better team in attack.
