According to Forbes, the Premier League will make a decision on the proposed Newcastle United takeover this week.

It has been reported that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) want to buy Newcastle from current owner Mike Ashley for £300 million.

The report has claimed that the sale ‘appears to be 50-50 at the moment’, and that the Premier League is expected to make a final decision this week.

Staying positive

The proposed Newcastle takeover saga has been going on for weeks, and perhaps this week is when there will be a final outcome.

There is nothing much the Newcastle fans can do expect stay positive and hope for the best.

The return of the Premier League this week will help the fans as well in terms of looking forward to something ‘concrete’.

The Magpies will take on Sheffield United at St. James’ Park in the league on Sunday.

Although mathematically there is still a chance that Newcastle could get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, it is very unlikely indeed that Steve Bruce’s side will finish in the Premier League bottom three.
