Celtic have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of David Marshall.

The Hoops are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper following the departure of Craig Gordon this summer, and Marshall is among their targets, according to Herald Scotland.
The report earlier this month claimed that the 35-year-old Scotland international goalkeeper himself is keen on a return to the club where he started his professional football career.
Marshall has one year left on his current contract at Wigan Athletic, and Herald Scotland reported that the Latics are ‘willing to accept a cut-price fee’.

However, The Sun has now claimed that Marshall may be allowed to leave the DW Stadium on a free this summer, with Wigan in administration and needing to get players off their books.
This will come as a massive boost to Celtic, and if they do not have to pay any transfer fee for the experienced former Norwich City and Cardiff City goalkeeper, then they should not hesitate to make a move and bring him back to Celtic Park.
