According to The Times, Arsenal want as much as £40 million for Matteo Guendouzi.

As reported by Sky Sports, the Gunners paid £8 million to Lorient in the summer of 2018 to sign the French midfielder.

However, the 21-year-old has fallen out of favour under Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta, as quoted by Metro, and the Gunners are reportedly willing to cash in on him.

According to WhoScored, Guendouzi made 19 starts and five substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal this past season.

The youngster also made two starts and four substitute appearances in the league for the North London outfit this campaign, according to WhoScored.

During the 2018-19 campaign, the Frenchman made 23 starts and 10 substitute appearances in the league, and scored one goal in 11 Europa League games for the Gunners, according to WhoScored.

Cashing in

If Guendouzi is unlikely to play for Arsenal on a regular basis under Arteta, then it would make sense for the club to cash in on him.

The Frenchman has huge potential, and he will get better in the coming years, but if the North London club can get £40 million for him this summer, then it will be business well done, at least in the short term.
