Rangers have pulled off a coup

Alex Rae has claimed new Rangers signing Steven Davis is a better player than he was in 2012.
It was seven years ago that Davis left Rangers, now making his return on loan until the end of the season.
Former Rangers star Rae told The Scotsman that he believes Davis will be an excellent addition to Steven Gerrard’s team.
Davis joins on loan from Southampton, where he had lost his place in the team.
Rae believes time in the English Premier League has made Davis a more complete player.

He said: “They needed an out and out leader in midfield who could pull the strings. Steven Davis is absolutely ideal for that role.
“I also think Rangers are getting a better player than the Steven Davis who left in 2012. No disrespect to Scottish football, but he has been playing at a better level in the Premier League.
“He’s a model of consistency so you know what you are going to get from him. He will be pulling people all over the place in that midfield area.”
Davis is 34, and like fellow new boy Jermain Defoe, 36, the duo will have to prove they are not past it.
He is still a regular at international level for Northern Ireland, which is a good indicator for the Gers.
Rae’s comments offer hope that Davis will be a major contributor to Steven Gerrard’s team, and the expectation is that Davis will be a regular between now and the end of the season.
