Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall is on loan at Rangers.
Nottingham Forest loanee Joe Worrall got his first taste of action in a Rangers shirt on Monday.
The defender made the switch to Ibrox late last week and watched his new side lose the Old Firm derby to Celtic over the weekend.
On Monday he was in action for Rangers’ reserves as they took on Dundee.
Several of Rangers regular reserve players like Glenn Middleton and the McCrorie brothers were unavailable due to youth international duty and the club’s official website reported that the Gers could have applied to get the game postponed.
Rangers ploughed on, using a mixture of under-18s and first team players to fill the void.
Worrall made his first appearance, with first team squad members Umar Sadiq and Lee Wallace also in the starting line up.
Rangers were 1-0 down at half-time, when Worrall was substituted, having played the 45 minutes as was the pre-match intention.
The young Gers side went on to lose the game 4-0, with their lack of impact up front arguably more concerning than shipping goals at the back.
This was all a part of a plan to get Worrall up to full match fitness and allow the Rangers coaching staff to have a closer look at him and the centre-back will hope to give Steven Gerrard a tough selection decision to make when the league games resume in a fortnight’s time.
