Newcastle star Kieran Trippier has responded to a question from Tottenham star Eric Dier on Instagram during a Q&A session – teasing the Spurs man when asked who taught the Toon ace how to take free-kicks.

Trippier, 31, made an incredible start to life at Newcastle over the past few weeks – scoring crucial free-kicks against Aston Villa and Everton. The Toon have gone six games unbeaten, but Trippier has now broken his foot.

The right-back played alongside Dier for both England and Tottenham – where he only managed two goals, the same amount he already has at Newcastle. He did, however, lay on a huge 24 assists for the London side.

Trippier held a Q&A session on his Instagram story on Thursday, and it was clear that numerous teammates – current and past – asked him questions including Jamaal Lascelles and Manchester United skipper Harry Maguire.

He also received one from ex-Spurs teammate Dier – who asked Trippier the identity of the person who had taught him how to take a free-kick. Dier scored for England at Euro 2016 – but Tripper responded hilariously.

Trippier responds to Dier: Can Newcastle stay up without him?

Without a doubt. There is a new sense of optimism even without Trippier at Newcastle. Yes, losing the England man is a blow, but he still has a crucial role to play behind the scenes over the course of the next few months.

Matty Targett has been superb in his two matches. Chris Wood is without a goal, but he has been crucial in getting the best out of his Toon attackers – Allan Saint-Maximin, for example. Bruno Guimaraes is yet to start.

Dan Burn has been stunning at centre-back. So, Newcastle can stay up – but getting Trippier back for the last three or four Premier League matches will be a huge boost in what could be crucial outings.
